Stick-throwing becomes routine for Bryzgalov

08:20 AM ET 02.28 | Ilya Bryzgalov hasn't helped erase the reputation that goalies are just, well, different. [Bryzgalov] livened the Flyers' morning skate on Wednesday when he exited his crease and winged his goalie stick across the ice in apparent frustration. ... It has been a routine practice recently for Bryzgalov, who has tried hard to stay out of the limelight after a less than flattering introduction to Philadelphia last season. Bryzgalov, 32, angrily threw his stick against the glass in a pregame skate at Pittsburgh last Wednesday after allowing a goal by Luke Schenn. The next night, he threw it down the tunnel to the Flyers' dressing room after being pulled against Florida.

The real issue with Bryz was revealed yesterday. His depiction of Yoda on his mask has the wrong color for the lightsaber Yoda is wielding. Fix that and all will be well. Course, last night's performance was pretty darn good.

Let the Bryz envy begin!

Maybe he saw a bear ???

It's a second-rate mask job for a second-rate goalie.

Good enough?

Hard to argue coming from an expert at watching second rate goalies on fourth rate teams over the years.

Keep shining those two Cup banners, bud.

Bryz trying to go all Hextall on us? If so, he better step it up a notch. ;)

Bryz did have a good game last night but the Caps weren't exactly challenging him. The stick throwing has been around awhile, I think it was 08 or 09 that he threw his stick and almost struck a ref doing it but thats is the only time I recall it happening in game, during practice or in the tunnel its just an athlete blowing off steam, same as a catcher throwing his gear in the dugout after a bad inning. Only difference I see is I am pretty sure those sticks are way more expensive compared to a catchers glove.

It was '08, I think.

Doing things out of fustration is gonna happen, and I have no problem with it either, as long as it doesn't affect your team or hurt someone else. Gotta watch that stick throwing.

I'd rather this than a nonchalant attitude.

Well he does have to keep up appearances, and being nice is just something one should do once in a while.... even if it is for Leafs fans...

Granted, but it might be better if he broke his stick on the top of the goal than throwing it down ice... if it did hit a player or official, Herr Shanahan would be foaming at the mouth (not that he isn't already, Crazy bast-ard)

Absolutely. Not in any way condoning his possibly injuring someone.

You obviously have not priced a good catcher's glove recently.

So Bryz's trademark is going to be throwing his stick. It sure isn't going to be getting a shut out.

Don't be too sure. I could change my views if Toronto is in the question ;)
