12:53 PM ET 02.28 | The Dallas Cowboys continue to dig themselves out of their salary cap hole by agreeing to a restructured deal with tight end Jason Witten, according to Nick Eatman. The new deal will save the Cowboys approximately $3.65 million against the cap in 2013 according to Todd Archer. Witten is the second player to rework his deal with the Cowboys in as many days, with DeMarcus Ware restructuring his contract on Wednesday. The Cowboys were an estimated $20 million over the cap before they began to rework player contracts. Witten was due $5.5 million with an $8 million cap hit in 2013 before restructuring, which will save $3.65 million towards the cap. His contract carries through the end of the 2017 season.

$20 million over the cap...does anyone in Dallas know what they are doing? I guess that's why they are America's team....President O'bummer and congress don't know what they're doing either!

Let's see how this translates to his play on the field.

Witten is a quality player and he will give his 110% in every game even with the paycut.

Would it be a totally ridiculous wish that anyone who feels the need to offer his totally unsolicited, unwanted, and unvalued political opinion into a sports post be immediately permabanned. Honestly, who gives a shytte what you think of Obama and exactly what does congress have to do with Jason Witten. Keep it over on the Fox news forums.

Not sure why players consistently agree to lower their salaries... why would you push your big payday back to a day that may never come?

What's the alternative if a guy like Jason Witten or DeMarcus Ware refuses to restructure his deal? Do the Cowboys release him? Oh what a terrible financial decision to become a free agent and play for the highest bidder...

Not really all that hard to follow: Dallas (America's team) financial situation is way over their Cap; America's financial situation extremely large budget deficit; excessive debt, etc. See it now! Just adding some humor here. Maybe you need some valium buddy! Chill out! (and go get your highschool GED!)
