Texas A&M backup Jameill Showers transferring to UTEP

01:45 PM ET 02.28 | Former Texas A&M quarterback Jameill Showers will transfer to UTEP. Showers lost the competition to Johnny Manziel prior to the 2012 season, and Manziel won the Heisman Trophy, it was clear that he would have to go elsewhere if he wanted a chance to start. Showers will be eligible to play right away for the Miners, as he will graduate from A&M this semester and will be a graduate student at UTEP. He played sparingly for the Aggies in 2012, putting together a line of 27-44 for 319 yards and two touchdowns.
