Lane Kiffin thinks poor defense hurt Matt Barkley

Good point. It could have been worse without those two.

LK may soon be using this same logic when asked his opinion about his being fired.

LK: Neither was I.

Hold, so his opinion is that had he had a better defense, he would have been seen as much better, just like Palmer and Leinart? Last time I checked they both sucked. So I guess the argument really should be that if Leinart and Palmer had the defenses that Barkley did, they would have been evaluated more realistically.

I think the O-line in front of him had more to do with it than the defense.

I think coaching had a more detrimental effect... just sayin'. BTW Isn't the headline "Lane Kiffen thinks.." an oxymoron?

Right on the money. Specifically, Holmes. Him being hurt for a good portion of the year had a huge, negative effect on our entire O-line.

Poor defense and poor coaching.

I think he hurt the defense in big games by under-performing terribly in pretty much all of them. And without those two monsters on the outside I dont know if they are even .500 this season

I was thinking the same thing.
His pass protection was poor, which often leads to interceptions, and they didn't open the holes for a run game, particularly in the fourth qtr. when they got gassed.
If his shoulder is alright he should do well in the NFL.

Dad or no dad. Montes D didn't work. Doesn't matter who they are off the field, on the field you have to do your job. Simple as that.

Could've, would've, should've... that pretty well sums up Kiff's coaching career so far.

The same thing could be said for Jimmy Clausen, four NC's with 3 Heisman's if it just wasn't for that damned Irish D.

Barkley to Dallas in the 3rd round ... if he's still there and if Jerry has any common sense whatsoever.

Hey Domers. It appears that Te'o is the whipping boy for ND's poor showing in the NC game. The same thing happened to Troy Smith after the Florida debacle. The fact the ND was undefeated going into that game means nothing now... your getting zero respect! I've been hearing about my Buckeye's shellacking for 7 years now.... but you guys are in the barrel and Te'o is paying the price big time. A few weeks ago he was a Heisman candidate, now he's too slow, half goofy and was pushed around by Alabama's offensive line. Just sayin'
