05:01 PM ET 02.28 | The Washington Capitals claimed forward Aaron Volpatti off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks on THursday afternoon. Washington was one of several teams who put i na claim for Volpatti, but Washington was the lowest ranked team to do so and was given the right to acquire him. Volpatti has acted mainly as a defensive forward while playing in Vancouver. Identified as a player who is willing to engage in the physical components of the game, Volpatti was given a great deal of responsibility in the defensive zone when playing in even strength situations. While he lacks goal scoring prowess, he will likely supplement the Capitals bottom-six forward groups.

Wonder why Vancouver gave him up?

Hank already mentioned this. Said he was "feisty". I don't see much of Vancouver so I can't really comment.

Because they're extremely ****ing stupid. He was fun to watch unlike most of the rest of the moops in Nuxville. Have fun Slappy and Birdy.

38 games in two years, 2 goals 1 asst. may be why. And he'll be 28 in May.

Nope, he may blossom in a different environment. He is no shrinking violet.

Never gonna get you 50 but I'd take him.

I'll keep you posted on how he dives in DC world. I assume you're having a great time Foil. I must admit I wasn't expecting this out of Montreal this year. You think Markov's presence has helped a lot?

Hasn't hurt, and of course PK Chelios....

But those 2 rookies are golden.

His ex-team wore bloomers so maybe he will be able to display his physical talents in DC.

They don't need him. They have the Sedins for toughness.

I believe this is mostly the point, fact is they didn't need him so we'll take him, heck anything has to be better than what is happening with this Caps team. With such a deep draft coming up I am not to discouraged. There are so many changes to be made including Neuvirth since this is the last year of his contract and I don't see a future for him here in DC.
