05:36 PM ET 02.28 | The Boston Celtics officially signed big man D.J. White to a 10-day contract on Thursday following the completion of his release from the Chinese Basketball Association. The 6'9, 260-pound 26-year-old was playing for the Shanghai Sharks, and averaging 21.6 points and 9.7 rebounds through 32 games. The move brings in another big body for Doc Rivers' team that was using Kevin Garnett and Jeff Green as its big men. The season-ending injury to Jared Sullinger and the loss of Jason Collins in the trade for Jordan Crawford weakened the depth and overall size up front for the Celtcs, one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. White, who played at Indiana, was the 29th overall selection of the 2008 NBA Draft. Last playing for the Charlotte Bobcats, White averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 58 games last year.
