08:09 AM ET 03.01 | On Thursday, Rasheed Wallace underwent surgery to repair a fracture in his left foot. The timetable remains at eight weeks, which could put him in line to return in the second round of the playoffs. According to a source, Wallace debated for several days whether to have surgery or let it heal on its own. His decision to have surgery is an indication he has hopes of playing again in the postseason. Wallace has not played since mid-December when he suffered a stress reaction in his left foot, a precursor to a stress fracture. The Knicks said that new X-rays showed the stress reaction had turned into a Jones fracture. The Knicks signed Kenyon Martin last Thursday realizing Wallace's return was iffy at best.

How do you say first in french?Rasheed should have opted for this surgury 2 months ago...smh the whole reason he was kept out since december was to avoid this..

Medicine is not an exact science. I don't blame him for waiting to see if it'll heal on it's own. Afterall he always has the option of retiring. Nobody is counting on him to come back so any progress he makes is good news. His presence in the locker room is valuable as well so I don't see this as a setback for the Knicks... we still have the Thomas, Camby, K-Mart and STAT for that position... life is good... get that shump out the line up and let's keep ballin.
