08:11 AM ET 03.01 | Only three months ago, the Rays managed to find Evan Longoria enough money to stay, but David Price is set to enter a different contract weight class. [There are lots of fans] who would love to see Longoria convince Price to "make some sacrifices" himself and stick around. But Longoria says that as much as he loves the guy, "that's not my job." "This is a great place to play," Longoria says. ... "So if I had my way, of course I would love to have Price here for a long time. But that's not my call. All I can do is enjoy every day with him." So with all those Stu Sternberg dollars committed to Longoria, could a money-challenged franchise like this possibly afford another nine-figure deal?

The team needs to sort itself out before even thinking about any kind of long-term deal for anybody. It needs a stadium in TB. If they can't get it, they leave. Once they do that, i'm sure there'll be money for everything they want.

I agree. The stadium situation down here is like an albatross hanging over the franchise's head.

And he is right - It's not his job to convince Price to stay - It's managements.

Price is going to leave if somebody with deep pockets shows interest....like the Dodgers.

I'm sure the Price paid attention to the Carl Crawford experience. Price will sign for big money but I don't think it will be with either the Yankees or Red Sox.

This team really needs a new stadium...in Tampa.
