05:59 PM ET 03.01 | The Denver Broncos will be placing the franchise tag on Pro-Bowl left tackle Ryan Clady, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Clady was widely considered one of the more obvious targets for the franchise tag, and Jon Elway has repeatedly said he wishes to sign Clady to a contract this offseason. With him franchised, it gives the two sides the space to come to an agreement. The tag is expected to cost the Broncos $9.6 million. Clady made $3.5 million this past season. Elway told the Denver Post on Friday that the Broncos would tag Clady and that they would be working on a contract extension this offseason as well.

A franchise tag on an OT should never happen.

Pardon my ignorance, but why? It seems to me the blindside tackle is one of the most important players on any team. If you're weak at that position you're going nowhere. So why wouldn't you use the tag on a guy like Clady?

This might be Peytons last Year, they need to Tag this guy, if they don't make the Playoffs both him and Peyton with get the Axe! They did score enough points to win, but Peyton looked worn out at the end!

I am sure he was, not only could he not play in 2011 I don't believe he could work out either
