Largest coaching staff in NFL history?

08:24 AM ET 03.03 | After going 7-9 in his rookie season, Greg Schiano knew there had to be changes. He started with his staff. Including Schiano, the Bucs have 24 members on their staff for 2013, or nearly one for every two players on the 53-man roster. Roughly half of those assistants have worked for or with Schiano, many at Rutgers. Still others have crossed paths with him during his career. Certainly, the hires give Schiano flexibility. If he decides to make a change with offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan or defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan after 2013, their replacements likely are already on the staff in McNulty and Wannstedt. So why such a large coaching staff in Year 2? "I think it's always a fluid situation," Schiano said. "Do you always need to have a staff as large as we do? Maybe not down the road. But the people we have in place right now are all people that I trust and believe in." And they all have a function or a role. And as those roles change, then our staff will change. But right now, I feel very good about our staff."

If you have another 7-9 season at TB in 13 those backup coordinators may be in line for your job in 14.

Or they could all be out of work!

Sounds like a Ponzi scheme to me. If each old buddy he hires pays him 10% of their salary? NO, I am sure it just turned out that the best people for these jobs were his old buddies. sure.

He should be coaching for the guys in Cleveland, too many assistants are just handed jobs, nobody wants to earn things anymore, give them an assistant so they can point a finger!
