Analyst: Cowboys could be open to some Tony Romo trade scenarios

09:51 AM ET 03.03 | NFL analyst Adam Schefter recently joined the Fitzsimmons & Durrett show on KESN-FM 103.3 ESPN Radio. Here are some highlights: On if the Cowboys will consider trading Tony Romo: "Before we trade him, let's say the compensation for Tony Romo is two 1's. I don't think it's that. Maybe it's a 1 and a 3. Robert Griffin III went for basically three 1's and a 2, and I remember having to debate with teams when the Rams were shopping that pick. Well, if you're going to take three 1's and a 2 for an unproven rookie before RGIII proved what he did, wouldn't you rather trade that for someone like Tony Romo? The Cowboys may be interested in doing something like that. Carson Palmer went for a 1 and a 2 that could be a 1. Tony Romo is worth at least that. Let's just say the market is two 1's, who is playing quarterback for the Cowboys? Good luck with that one."

Tony Romo and a No. 3 pick to the Jets for Darelle Revis and Mark Sanchez?

So Adam Schefter is now part of the Cowboy's front office and has input on trades? Whole lot of talk about nothing. That is ESPN's new method of reporting sports..if there is not story to report, then fabricate one.

They still need a quarterback if they trade Tony, unless Jerry wants to suit up!!!

Dallas does not need Revis and his next big salary and Sanchez sucks.
Worst. Deal. Ever.

I have supported Romo on the blogs more than people know...
With that being said, if Dallas could get TWO Round 1 picks for Tony, I would do it.
Orton is still there and can win games for Dallas and Matt Flynn is available via trade with Seattle.
If Dallas had to deal a Round 3 or 4 to get Flynn and got the Round 1's, Dallas would have 4 Round 1 picks over 2 seasons!
They could easily rebuild their lines with cheap youth and see what Flynn has.
The only reason you do not deal Romo now, is because you think you can win a Super Bowl with the guy...and it is Jones I do not trust to do that, not Tony.

It really is rather pathetic how mere idle, hypothetical speculation based on nothing is highlighted as part of the Boys' possible thoughts. This is embarrassing if I'm SI. Could there really be this little context? Not even a mention in the re-reported interview of whether the equipment manager had a thought on this?

Just a guess that if Romo we're traded, the price for Flynn would increase (low supply and with the Cowboys especially, high demand). Also, while it is a nice thought, JJ actually loves Romo and he'd be admitting a mistake (a true rarity from that blowhard).

Tony Romo, good enough to keep....not good enough to sign long term. Cowboys would probably love to trade him but nobody is giving up two #1's. Try fixing the O line Jerry and maybe you can run out the clock late in games.

I am not a Cowboys fan, but Romo is not the problem.
Trading him just creates another hole to fill.
The only way you do this is IF you also have a deal for someone such as Flynn already worked out.

Sanchez? The Cowboys don't need that train wreck.

Fire sale. Romo, Ware, Dez, Carr, Claiborne, etc. Why go 8-8 with expensive players?

The only way Romo is being traded is if Jerry has given up on this current roster.
Anyone who knows Jerry's ego knows he hasn't given up on this roster.
But - if Romo is not signed to an extension... Read the tea leaves.

Yep - those are the kind of trades that kill teams for years.

Why would any team want the ultimate choke player? And I still think the Redskins made a bad deal. Let's see how the lack of high draft picks affect them over the next five years. And if RGIII manages to stay on the field.
