08:04 AM ET 03.04 | As of late last week, the agent for Joe Flacco, Joe Linta, was telling his star client to brace for a franchise tag. A phone call with the Ravens that lasted between five and 10 minutes Friday, when Linta traveled to Texas for a client's wedding, changed that. The Ravens accepted Flacco's proposal. "It's nice to be right," Linta said. "Everybody laughed about it when I said he's a top-five guy. When I said he should be the highest-paid player in the NFL, they thought I was a jackass. Hey, I do my job." Linta isn't one of the NFL's highest-profiled agents, such as Tom Condon, Ben Dogra, Drew Rosenhaus or Eugene Parker. But with about 40 clients, the former Yale defensive tackle has been in the business for 20 years.

Flacco is a decent QB who had an unusually good six games. Thats not worth $120 million.

You might be right, but time will tell.
Flacco's ascension has been about much more than 6 games.

Come on Jim give the guy some credit, instead of stamping his feet and demanding a new contract last year he doubled down on his game and ran the table with one of the great post season performances ever. He had the Ravens by the short and curlys, hell the Browns would have given him the whole bank, and he still cut a deal that didn't hamstring the team. All in all I think he got what he's worth

I hope he shows a little class and sends a thank you note to the broncos DBs.

The market place does not lie. Over the next five years that is the going rate for a QB like him.

It is cap friendly this year and then next year the restructure takes place.

And his receivers, especially Boldin.

You are exactly right. This guy won a Super Bowl because of 2 freaky circumstances. Hail Mary pass in the Denver game. And in the Super Bowl he not only had the help of the referees, but the 49ers handed him the game with terrible play calling in the final 2 minutes of the game.
Otherwise he is making 1/2 of the money. Lets see how he ranks next season, his numbers will definitely drop when Boldin retires, which could be this year.

He's not a great QB, probably never will be. He is a poor man's Phil Simms, who also wasn't great though he had a great SB vs. DEN. BAL is gonna struggle big time with this guy.

A QB like Flacco is probably just glad to have to have this dream continue. From Nowhere State to highest paid in the NFL, with a below avg. QB rating and no Pro Bowls.

It is a artful game they all play. I think at the annual owners meeting there will be some serious discussion about all this cap playing around.

I may be wrong here, but wasnt this the guy that midway through the season the debate was if the ravens would trade/release him after the season was over due to his mediocre play? He is a decent QB, but no where near the manning (both), brady, brees group. He had an awesome postseason, but he's been inconsistant during the regular season. And if you watched him throughout the playoffs, many of these 'awesome' plays were heaves down the field where his receiver made great plays (boldin and smith) and flatout chokes by the Denver and NE secondary. Heck you could almost say that this big contract was due to Bailey having a bad day covering smith and making Flacco look like some sort of royalty out there.
The ravens would have been better off giving him 15-17mil a year for 5 years, and securing Smith and boldin (especially smith) for the longterm...

Yup. Remember how we used to talk about Good Eli and Bad Eli? It's the same with Flacco.

His contract is analogous to the **** deal OAK gave Larry Brown after O'Donnell gave him 2 gift INT's during the SB. Anyone could see that Brown was garbage. But...
