08:10 AM ET 03.04 | Ryan Madson remains optimistic, but the calendar isn't on his side. The Angels reliever said Sunday he's starting to turn the corner in his rehab from Tommy John surgery, but the remaining steps he described might not leave time for him to pitch at all before the Angels leave Arizona. Madson said he is hoping to be on a mound early next week. Because he hasn't been on the mound since a setback on Feb. 1, after only his fourth bullpen session, he estimated he would need eight bullpen sessions before pitching in a game. Eight bullpen sessions, with no setbacks, would take about three weeks. The Angels have just four weeks until opening day.
