08:20 AM ET 03.04 | As spring practice opens Tuesday for the Buckeyes with legitimate cause for inclusion in the national title contender conversation, who could be a breakout performer on offense? [It] could be fifth-year senior Jordan Hall. He was expected to be the hybrid slotback in the spread before a cut foot in the summer delayed his debut, and then a knee injury cut his season short after 21/2 games. With blue-chip recruits Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson headed this way in the summer, Hall -- elected a co-captain last season -- needs to reassert why coach Urban Meyer and offensive coordinator Tom Herman had such grand plans for him this time a year ago.

They better hope some of their young D-linemen and linebackers break out. Losing six of your front seven on defense is seldom a good thing.

True, there are some big shoes to fill on the D-line and LB positions, DS. It'll be interesting to see how that gets sorted out in Spring ball.
I counted 15 underclassmen at the DL position. Some names that might stand out this spring: Noah Spence, Michael Bennett, Tommy Schutt, Adolphus Washington, and last but not least, Chris Carter (6'4", 358#). If the Bucks go to a 3-4, Carter could be a real presence at NG. I'm actually feeling pretty good enough to say "reload" rather than "rebuild" with the DL.
As for the linebackers, that is going to be the real mystery. Ryan Shazier, Storm Klein (I think), Jamal Marcus, and Curtis Grant all have the ability to do well. There are also seven (7) freshmen LBs of unknown potential vying for a starting job. That's the head-scratcher.
