04:19 PM ET 03.04 | The Edmonton Oilers have acquired bruising forward Mike Brown from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a conditional fourth-round draft selection. The condition of the pick is that it will be changed to a third-round pick if the Oilers are able to qualify for the 2013 playoffs. This move will improve the Oilers physicality, which the club has reportedly been attempting to do. Rumors circulated that the club was interested in claiming forward Aaron Volpatti on waivers, as well as Tom Sestito from the Philadelphia Flyers. Ultimately, Volpatti was awarded to the Washington Capitals and Sestito ended up with the Vancouver Canucks. All three players are known for their affinity for physicality.

So what they are saying is that instead of claiming Volpatti or Sestito for a cap hit of half their salary for a waiver fee they give up a draft pick and pay a full salary Tamby taking GM lesson's from his Albertan counterpart

I wonder ... was that Shanahan's idea?

Yup and if a Hab hits a player from behind the city builds a scuplture of them.......

no, we build sculptures to players that win cups. I know that you know very little about all that, but try to follow...or volunteer your services behind the bench by counting to 5.

Mike Brown? Isn't the entire Oilers forward crew under six feet tall? What do they want with still another small, injury prone forward whose only real credential is that he knows how to draw penalties? What they desperately need is a leader. A guy with some ability and big cohones who can grab those scared baby-faced smurfs by the scruff of their necks and drag them along to success.

You'd think that a GM with half a brain would've found one center, just one, who is over 6' and over 200lbs. with all those #1 picks and "top ten" first rounders over the last decade who's worth a damn. But, not this inbred gang running the show over there! They'll be damned if they draft anyone who has some size, ability, cohones and a future in the NHL. Let's keep stocking up on pint size, baby faced, fragile smurfs and hope they might grow a pair someday, shall we?

Mr. Pharmaceuticals needs to clean house. Break up that inbred bunch running things over there and hire a real President, a real GM, a real NHL coach and a credible scouting staff that can recognize real talent. Talent that can win in the NHL.

I much prefer it the way it is. Let Yakupov slide down the ice like a fairy as many times as he wants, as long as it's not in the finals.

Never liked that weasel. He spends most of his time on the ice trying to avoid any kind of contact. The Oilers needed a guy like Galchenyuk or a stud D-man. They got this bum instead. Go figure.

Braindead Shamaham has never had an original thought in his life.

He should have stuck to playing hockey instead of ajudicating.....
