Ilya Bryzgalov forced to change Star Wars mask by Lucasfilm

04:21 PM ET 03.04 | Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov was forced to change his Star Wars themed mask by Lucasfilm. Bryzgalov has an affinity for the universe and wanted to pay homage to that interest by having a mask commissioned with Star Wars characters on it. Given that the Flyers primary colors are orange and black, the artist illustrated the images with a similar hue. This meant one of the main characters of the series, Yoda, was depicted as orange with a Lightsaber that appeared to be red. This upset Star Wars fans and Lucasfilm, whom requested that the mask be altered to depict Yoda in his traditional color of green with a matching Lightsaber. Had the changes not been made, it is believed Lucasfilm would not have allowed the mask to be worn.

I'm all for protecting copyright ,but this seems a bit havy handed. The artist in question acknowledged that he knew nothing about star wars and made yoda orange w an orange light doo-hickey because of the team colours. Why Lucasfilms gives a damn is beyond me. If they're going to object, ten object to the use in general, don't object to the tint being orange as opposed to green.

I say we place Lucasfilm attorneys (protecting TM) and the NHPLA ( protecting goalies artistic freedom ) and its attorneys in a room and let them go at it. By the time they are done the league will be lockout proof. They will crush the empire (Bettman) and bring the evil mafia (owners) to thier knees. I vote DiPietro to play R2D2 because with all his injuries we can put him in a wheelchair and through a disguise over him.
