08:21 AM ET 03.05 | We will be entering the NFL Free Agency period next week, which is a time that greatly influences the direction that NFL teams decide to go in the draft, but it is still never too early to begin talking about potential suitors for the players in the 2013 NFL Draft class. Sometimes the connection between a team and player is pure speculation, but then there are times where there is more weight to the report and this is one of those times. The Pittsburgh Steelers scheduled a formal interview with Texas Longhorns safety Kenny Vaccaro and met with him in Indianapolis during the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine. Pittsburgh's interest in the top safety prospect makes perfect sense when you look at their current situation in the defensive backfield.

Considering that it takes a rookie 2 or 3 years to work their way into Dick LeBeau's Defense I'd say it's time to look at bringing in a couple of safetys.

Their current secondary situation? Are you two years behind? Their secondary is full of young talent, it's their LBs that are in need of talent and depth.
Having a key player when Troy takes his 4 or 5 games off for injury would be nice, but not because of the 'current secondary situation'.

He'd be a pretty good pick for them. They definitely need to start getting younger on defense.

The Steelers kept their veterans for too long. Can anyone say rebuild?

Steelers drafted OL with their first two picks last year, and everyone thought they did great. But one guy got injured and the other took longer to develop than they thought he would. If everyone comes back healthy, their OL should be in much better shape this year.

I don't think he's going to last that long. Too many other teams ahead of the Steelers that need CB/S help.

William had an excellent year in 11, I'm not unhappy to see him return

Rarely... I'm pretty sure Polamalu was the only time they've done so, at least for the first round. They were allegedly willing to do so in order to get DeCastro, but he ended up falling to them anyway.
It's a good year for it though, since this draft is considered a little lackluster.
