Manziel facing rebuild

08:06 AM ET 03.06 | Johnny Manziel may not have many classes to attend in person, but his spring on campus won't come without questions. Manziel will try to get comfortable with new faces calling the shots on offense with former offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury now the head coach at Texas Tech. New OC Clarence McKinney replaced Kingsbury leading up to the Cotton Bowl win over Oklahoma, so there's familiarity already. But the Aggies also added co-coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital. ... Losing Kingsbury will certainly be an adjustment, but this offense eventually will once again find its rhythm. Besides boasting the reigning Heisman winner, the Aggies have arguably the best running back depth in the country with Ben Malena, Brandon Williams, Trey Williams and Tra Carson.

TTech has hired a PR firm to market Kingsbury's brand/image. His clothes, his hair, his coach speak will be carefully orchestrated. They ultimately want him on the cover of GQ, in front of the cameras at red carpet functions, etc ... This is what they think they need to do in order to appeal to recruits from the social media generation. I'm not joking they've put this plan into motion.

Back on topic ... A&M has a legit OL and running game ... any "rebuilding" that needs to be done will be at receiver. I think they'll be ok.

Wait. so last year they had an offensive plan? I thought they just told Manziel to wing it.

They will be OK but I don't think anyone will take Manziel as lightly as he might have been taken last year. I am sure many guys thought "he can't be that fast or elusive" and got sloppy. I say he is not nearly as productive this year as he was last. Just my opinion.

Isn't this what Spring practice is for? No excuses. As much as I hate them, look at the "new faces" at Florida State....all schools have to go through adjustments.

Pachy, not an A&M or Alabama fan but that's what they said in high school and they also said his game wouldn't transfer to college. Looks like we have all been fooled so far. If you can spare a couple of guys on defense to spy him maybe that would work.

That is exactly phase II of the plan. If phase I breaks down, Johnny ad libs.

I agree Pachy but for a different reason. I really think he is going to miss Joeckel and that is the reason productivity will go down a little. Still, it is hard to prep for his "winging" it.

I agree because teams now have a full season of film on him. Film don't lie and the scouts will be breaking it down.
However, A&M had a very good O line, TE play, WR play and RB play. They were solid with few weaknesses on offense. When plays broke down Manziel improvised and his elusiveness was hard to anticipate. The angles he took made defenders miss. He looked like some sort of geometric genius out there with the angles he took. That right there will be hard to game plan against even with film evaluation.

I think they lose 12 starters, more than any team in the top 30.
I'm waiting for them to NOT pull an aggie; meaning every time in recent memory they were expected to do well and ranked in top 10 they collapse.

OK, bama by 10. Who the hell schedules an off week on Sept 7th? bama, I guess. So bama will have only one warm up game before TAM. They won't be as ready as they should be, if they would have had 2 games to get into the flow of things.

Kinda crazy, but I suppose it could work for them.
But I certainly cannot see this working at most schools. The first person from the ADs office that brought this up in a meeting with Boom present would likely spontaneously combust from the intensity of the stare they'd get.
