08:21 AM ET 03.06 | Wednesday marks one month from the NHL's trade deadline, and yet there seems to be little appetite for a significant trade. If Stan Bowman had his way, he wouldn't wait until [the trade deadline] to make his move(s). But he's in a waiting mode awaiting interested trade partners. "I always find that I'm usually the guy that's more interested in making moves earlier and most of my counterparts are more interested in waiting it out, so it's not that unusual for me," Bowman said with a chuckle Tuesday on the line from Chicago. ... "The standings dictate how much movement there is, separation or lack thereof," Red Wings GM Ken Holland told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

Bowman has made statements that he is looking for another center, now I know that they have several in the AHL Morin, Hayes and Pirri come to mind but in looking at the FA market for a center with an expiring contract you could look at perhaps Connolly or McDonald or even try for Antropov but ultimately you neve want to mess with a team on a roll like Chicago, if you have to add depth and nto go for a bigger line C go for someone like Bozak who is a UFA next year.

Anything less than a cup will be a major let-down for the Hawks. I almost feel like their streak is just going to put an unbelievable amount of pressure on them...

The young Wings players are doing fine right now, if Helm can get back who knows. I watched the Tigers go 35-5 back in '84 and although they won the WS, they played barely .500 the rest of the season. Bowman should keep his mouth shut, keep the team together, because when the bubble burst, things happen.

What exactly do you add to (and by necessity subtract from) an elite-offensive and elite-defensive team getting elite goaltending from both netminders? Maybe a big forward to muck up the crease on power plays? The ONLY weakness this team is showing right now is on the PP, which is mediocre, but not terrible. I just do not see any reason to make a mid-season trade for a team that has only 3 losses (all in SO's) after 23 games.
