11:15 AM ET 03.06 | Phoenix Suns center Jermaine O'Neal is going through one heck of an emotional roller-coaster this season. O'Neal dealt with the passing of his aunt earlier this season, which caused him to miss five-games and now O'Neal will be stepping away from the Suns indefinitely as his 13-year old-daughter, Asjia, will be undergoing open heart surgery tomorrow to repair a leaky heart valve. It's been reported that O'Neal will be out at least three games but he could miss more games depending on his daughter's condition.

Family comes first regardless of your profession.

JO needs to attend to family matters but realistically he is done. His best years are definitely behind him and now it's just about the money.

QUOTE(#2):

The Suns may as well shut down Jermaine for the rest of the season. They're not going to the Playoffs anyway, and with Jermaine's mental state right now, it makes no sense to bring him back for a few remaining meaningless regular-season games. Besides, having him out helps the Suns tank the rest of the season and land a good draft pick - unless the pick belongs to another team via an earlier trade.

I hope that you're satisfied with blowing up the threads yesterday. Please stop reporting abuse. If you can dish it out, you should be able to take it. What happens in the NBA threads should stay in the NBA threads. Peace.

Having personally seen and gone through almost exactly the situation JO is, 3 games is not gonna be enough to miss, for something as complicated as a OH surgery, especially on a child.

Recovery is very tedious and painful. I just wish no one else has to go through something like this, it is a life changer, and one that I will never forget for the rest of my life.
