11:32 AM ET 03.06 | In a much anticipated press conference on Wednesday morning, Rory McIlroy met with the press at The WGC-Cadillac, and a live TV audience on the Golf Channel to discuss his decision to leave the golf course on Friday morning at The Honda Classic. When asked if the first story published that his head wasn't in the right place was true, or was he having problem with his wisdom tooth, he said "both." Rory first acknowledged that what he did was a huge mistake, that if he had taken time to think it through, he would have finished the round. He later made a heartfelt apology to everyone involved, including the people at the Honda Classic, and most of all his fans. He did say, the incident turned out to be the pressure relief that made him feel better.

Anyone willing to a stab at translating that statement?

Hope he ends up wearing a green jacket next month.

So which one is more responsible for turning him into a hack...the tennis playing trollop or the new clubs?

The clubs. Different clubs make a difference to me as a high handicap hacker so I assume they make a huge difference to a PGA pro. Why a pro would change clubs when he's playing well is beyond me. I know they gave him a dump truck full of money but my understanding is that those contracts don't usually require the pro to change clubs.

We shall see if it's the pressure relief he needed in the next few weeks, eh?I hope someone close to Rory has tried to convince him to just relax and play golf. He wasn't winning every tournament before he signed the big endorsement deal/club change and no one expects him to now. Just play laddie, screw everything else.

Exactly.

Me too. He's a great kid, a great golfer and he made a little mistake. As they say in NY "fuhgeddaboudit".
