Bucs could give RB Blount first-round tender

01:42 PM ET 03.06 | Basically, Blount was irrelevant, and Martin went on to 1,454 yards, 11 touchdowns and much acclaim. Blount is a restricted free agent this offseason but apparently the Buccaneers still think he's a valuable piece of their squad. Very, very valuable. The Tampa Bay Tribune reports that the Buccaneers are considering placing a first-round tender worth $2.879 million on Blount, meaning they're willing to pay him nearly $3 million in 2013. But if another team deems it necessary to sweep Blount away with a multiyear deal and assuming Tampa Bay doesn't want to match the terms, that squad then would have to give up a first-round draft pick to Tampa Bay for the right to do so.

Blount still has some shelve value.

In the right system, I think he's an effective back, but I don't think anyone wants to trade away a #1 for him.

If the Bucs could find a way to use Blount, and Martin together they'd have the best backfield tandem in the NFL!

If there's a GM out there that would actually give up a 1st rounder for this dude, he should immediately be fired.

Might not be the best in the league...but definitely a backfield that defenses would have to pay attention to. Done right it would help make Freeman a better QB.

Actually wouldn't this be the year to trade a #1 there doesn't seem to be much in the draft.

That would certainly be the shocker of the offseason
