Report: Timberwolves expect to keep Pekovic

06:28 PM ET 03.06 | The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly plan to re-sign center Nikola Pekovic to a significant contract extension when he hits free agency this summer, establishing the big man as part of the team's core going forward. Since emerging as a starter last year, Pekovic has been one of the most productive big men in the NBA. Setting career-highs across the board this season, he's averaging 15.9 points and 8.8 rebounds in 31.6 minutes per game. Currently making just $4.6 million this year, Pekovic will likely receive a substantial raise in his next contract given his solid performance in Minnesota.
