08:23 AM ET 03.07 | Jake Allen, the job is yours -- for now. The rookie has been named the Blues' starter for [Thursday], when they will face the Phoenix Coyotes for the first time this season. The puck drops at 8 p.m. It was a drastic turn of events after LA torched Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak for three goals on seven shots in the opening 6 minutes, 9 seconds of the third period. Brian Elliott entered and allowed one goal on eight shots. Less than an hour after the game ended, at 1 a.m. (St. Louis time), the Blues announced that Allen was being recalled from Peoria. ... [It] appears that the Blues,in the midst of a five-game road trip, are giving the job to Allen and seeing how far he can go with it.

Not laying all this on Halak or Elliot. The defense has left the guys in net hung out to dry far too many times this season. Yeah, Halak let about 2 or 3 by last night that he should of had, but he and Elliot have had little help. Armstrong stated after the game the team played 40 min of the game well. Guess the coaching staff forgot to tell them about the other 20 min of the game.

Ah, but Hitchcock is ahead of his own curve and now the model of the future is the 3 Goalie system. Not, however, to be confused with the Three Fingers of Fury.

Next experiment is the "all goalies, all the time" system. No D, no wingers, just goalies. With all the equipment the game MIGHT be slowed down a wee bit...............

Are you kidding? Lucic wouldn't go anywhere near those guys....Smith would have carved him up, and Hextall and Roy would have beat him like a tympani.
He would have treated their goal creases like Kessel treats a corner
