08:33 AM ET 03.07 | Though it didn't happen this past week, the Miami Heat may still give center Greg Oden a chance to take his talents to South Beach. [Oden] will be back on the Heat's radar this summer. Mike Conley Sr., the agent for Oden, said Wednesday he had discussions with Miami president Pat Riley about the spot the Heat had open between Feb. 21 and last Saturday. ... But Conley Sr. said it was decided it's best to wait until the summer before talking further about Oden, the NBA's top draft choice in 2007 who is trying to make a comeback after not having played in the NBA since December 2009 due to knee injuries. "The Heat are interested in him, and he's interested in them," Conley Sr. said in a phone interview.

Who the heck would sign a player that is still undergoing rehabilitation and could not play? It's not like he is a high value commodity that has proven his worth. He is a project and nothing more.

Heat should either sign Dalembert or (Oden providing he is clearted to play) & resign Dorell Wright in the off season, tell Mike Miller to get the stepping!

3.5 years since he last fouled out - probably a record for him.

You guys probably will not be able to sign Dalembert. The Heat will always be looking for free agents big men who come cheap. If Oden is healthy that would be a big pickup. Dalembert probably ends up in Atlanta unless they can get a better center

It'll never happen. If he were 6'4"" he would be playing (or not playing) in China.

That is why Miami did not sign him now.
By getting him this summer, they have him next season.
If Oden came back at just 75% of what he was, that is a HUGE improvement for Miami at that spot.
It would also allow Miami to move Bosh back to Power Fwd and start a lineup of Chalmers, Wade, Lebron, Bosh and Oden with Allen, Battier, Haslem, Cole and Birdman backing them up.

exactly-
not sure why this is such a difficult concept to grab

Huh ?
he is a 8 & 8 caliber player MAX
at 75% he's basically 6 & 6.....
and seriously speaking- with his history of injury.....
you really think there is a chance he comes back and is able to play quality minutes for you? birdman is a FAR better option

plus- the way your guys play D-
you don't want some immobile blob in the paint-
you need a guy that can rotate and be active-

I love Greg Oden. He's the best center ever!

Oh they would most likely keep Birdman, he comes dirt cheap. Getting Oden is a low risk high reward if healthy and cheap. Look how many teams need a center, the Heat need a rim protector and rebounder probably like 20 minutes a night to split with another center and/or Bosh. This is mainly for teams with an inside pressence

birdman, if the heat win another ring and he plays decent minutes and contributes- will have other teams offering $. he's a 'lil bit loco...but he's a functional center
Oden is NOT.
he can't play 20 minutes a night of heat-brand ball.
and it is a big deal to waste a roster spot (IMO)
I don't see what the high reward aspect of this guy is?
it ain't scoring.....is it 6-8 rebounds?
and we can discuss his talent til the cows come home-
bottom line is he has no knees
he will break down no matter what
- I just don't see why you take any risk on him until he PROVES that he can play
