01:10 PM ET 03.07 | The day has finally arrived. Steven Jackson has officially voided his contract with the St. Louis Rams, and will now be the number one running back available in free agency. It has been out there for some time that Jackson would void his deal. It still does feel fresh, though. There was no chance that the Rams would keep Jackson this season, not with a cap number of $7 million. Jackson was still productive last season, running for 1,042 yards, and four touchdowns. It was the eighth season in a row that Jackson topped the 1,000-yard mark, joining an elite group of players that includes Hall of Famers Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas, Emmitt Smith and Curtis Martin. There is still a chance that the Rams all-time leading rusher could return in 2013, possibly even finishing his career with the only team he's even known. Both parties have expressed interest in each other, and Jeff Fisher and Les Snead have been effusive in their praise for Jackson's role with the team, from pass blocking to locker room leadership.

This where my cap Proposal comes in: And it can be modified to 8 years, I designed it for a ten year vet, but not many guys seem to play 10 Years with the same Club:
Veteran Exemption Cap!
Under the Guido plan, if a player has been with the same team or in the League, for 10 Years, That Team would have two spots on the roster for Veteran Exemptions, meaning that in the case of a guy like Harrison of the Steelers, 50% of his annual contract would go against the cap, this would give a team like the Steelers 2 spots designated for veteran players that The Steelers would want to keep on the roster, it will also allow The Steelers the ability to reward it's star performers. The catch is the veteran would have to be on the team in year nine so a guy like Peyton would have been full tilt with Denver but Harrison and let's say Palamalu would be at 50% of the Cap!! The Team can make up the money on team Jersey sales alone!!! Maybe produce a special patch for the 10 Year Vet, etc. That's why I'm The Gweeed!!!

Going from the Rams to the Steelers worked pretty well for the last Rams RB to do that as he won a SB after the 2005 season.

As a Rams fan, I'm torn. I want to see him finish his career a Ram, but he's been such an amazing team player it would be a shame if he couldn't play for a contender. Either way, I'll be rooting for you SJ39! Unless you go to the 9ers....then you're dead to me. :)

Lots of teams will be in on this, Cards, Lions to name a few that have no running back at all.

It could be Atlanta. They need to replace Turner.

My guess would be Atlanta also. Good team, good QB, good defense, good coach and right on the edge of winning it all. If Jackson goes to Atlanta I'll bet Tony Gonzalez comes back for another year.
