Stadium deal a loser for Atlanta

not sure why they need a new place to play. The Georgia Dome isn't exactly old.

Fine. Let the Falcons and the mayor PAY for the new stadium ... or shut up.

Time to put some thought into building stadiums so that the publick might be able to recoop some of its investment and the small businesses around it also make some money, other wise no deal!!!!

Until cities and States just say no, it will never change. It is not about the Dome there, it is about luxury boxes and corporate seating that is revenue the owner does not have to share with the visiting team.

How can you Mr. Mayor even consider a new stadium with the unemployment rate in your city.

This is pure BS. That place is only about 20 years old I believe. This is just the rich trying to get richer. And this will not generate any new permanant jobs so that argument doesn't hold water either. Just say no, ATL.

exactly, that's why Three Rivers is gone...

I am personally getting sick of seeing owners use tax payers money to fund new stadiums.

If they have so much money and need a stadium, build one with your own dough...

Not really, though he did more than most with his own money:

The city of Arlington contributed $325 million in financing. Their share of the bonds is paid with proceeds from a half-cent sales tax increase, 2 percent hotel-motel tax hike and 5 percent increase in car rental tax.

JJ and the cowboys funded about 75% of the stadium , the people the rest, and those added taxes to the people will never, ever, ever, go away....

Ahhh I didn't know about Arlington kicking in. Then the last redeaming quality about JJ just turned into a fraud

Bob Kraft paid for the new Patriots' stadium with his own money. He tried to get the state to kick in for a footbridge over their road, and was told no. So, he bought that, too.

On the other hand, Massachusetts has kicked in millions for "green energy" companies that shut their doors or sold the technology to China and then shut their doors.

It is the last of the boring big circle stadiums. While it isn't "that old" it is that dated! Professional sports are first and foremost a business, and a dated stadium can cost you not only free agents (salary capped league, same money more amenities somewhere else) but more importantly it can cost you very valuable events a la the BCS playoffs.
