Denny Hamlin fined for criticizing car; doesn't plan to pay

This could get a little messy. There seems to be a backlash against Nascar, they don't like people talking back to them, it should be interesting. Nascar has the right to take the total of the fine from the drivers earnings which is the route they will probably take. Hamlin is a twerp but I think he is right in this case.

I will never be a Denny fan......but he is right in this case........he only said what all the other drivers and fans are thinking.....he said it nicely .....and said hopeful things about the future of this car........I also think he is right in not wanting to pay this fine.....and he should not have to apologize either.......If drivers cannot express an opinion, without getting fined, then that is really disturbing.

Denny is appealing this fine.....don't know how he will make out with that, but good for him for fighting this rubbish.

Nascar should focus on fixing this season's racing so far.......not able to do much passing....it looks more like a Sunday drive on the track......so far, the racing has been one big bore......we all get that a new car type needs some tweeking and getting used to.......which is what Denny was saying.....but we all need to see Nascar caring about the impact on fans and drivers.

Food for thought: would Jimmie have gotten fined if he had said the same thing?

anyone know if kryle got fined 25k for his comments after winning the first COT race? he said something like "this car sucks!", dennys comments weren't that bad at all

Its Bristol Week!!!!!!!!!!Right in my backyard........Yea Baby!!!!!!.......Long-range forcast calls for rain all next weekend and Monday, but then again what do weatherman know a, only job you can have and be wrong all the time and not get fired!

The quality of racing still has room for improvement. The tweaking and pushing the envelope with the new cars should start to show pretty quick.

The First Amendment, only protects you from the Government from restricting your speech. Individuals, groups, and corporations are not covered by this restriction, unless you go through the lengthy and expensive lawsuit route.
