Hottest team in the SEC

08:12 AM ET 03.08 | In advance of Saturday's regular-season finale at Tennessee, Missouri Coach Frank Haith had more than a few nice things to say about the Vols. Haith described the Volunteers as the "hottest team in the league." They've won seven of their last eight games, including Wednesday's 82-75 victory at Auburn, to climb back into consideration for an NCAA Tournament berth -- something that seemed unlikely after a 1-4 start to the Southeastern Conference season. Tennessee is led by Jordan McRae, who's averaging 19.5 points in SEC play and whom Haith said is "playing like a player of the year candidate." Haith also pointed to point guard Trae Golden and forward Jarnell Stokes, the SEC's leading rebounder during league play.

Haith is correct, but it's also coachspeak that's trying to put a gameface on his players. Nothing wrong with that.

But there is something wrong with claiming a victory over Aubie as anything to be extra proud of. Aubie suxes mightily.

I watched LSU vs. A&M bball the other night. It was refreshing to see some junior and senior leadership on the court. There was actually some defense being played too. Much more interesting than watching a bunch of freshmen run and dunk and trade baskets.
