08:16 AM ET 03.08 | All these points the Red Wings have complied over the past few weeks hasn't much helped veteran defenseman Ian White. [White] can't crack a crowded Detroit Red Wings defense that has been playing well lately, raising questions about his future with the team. White spoke with coach Mike Babcock and general manager Ken Holland about his situation and said Thursday that he hasn't asked for a trade, nor does he expect to be moved anytime soon, if at all. "We're not there yet," White said. ... Babcock indicated it would take a poor defensive game or an injury to get White back in the lineup. "We've been playing pretty solid defensively, not letting in too many goals, so it's tough to change the defense up," White said.

Hey, if Detroit is lucky, they can peddle him to Calgary along with the rest of their dead weight for a pretty decent player.

Wouldn't be the first time White gets moved there.

Didn't we trash this topic (and the washed-up TOR reject himself) a week ago?

Iginla is what the Wings really need... A right-handed shot on the power play and a linemate for Datsyuk.

Well ... if you can't crack the lineup in Detroit .... where can you crack it? BTW, the Wings are just 2 points behind the Leafs ... and charging fast. I'd be careful calling any of their players 'dead weight' at this point; the Leafs might be in their rear view mirror within a week.

9 goals against in last 5 games. 15 goals against in the 5 games before that. Hard to make a change when your defense has improved that much with the current guys playing.
Not saying this difference is just White but when things are beginning to gel, you stick with what's working.

Nope. Just bragging rights is all. We've been so far down that it's nice to start catching up to the elite teams in overall standings.
