03:25 PM ET 03.08 | The Arizona Cardinals have let go a player who will one day be considered one of the franchise's greats: they cut Adrian Wilson Friday after 12 years of service.
Wilson had been with the team ever since they selected him in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, making the Pro Bowl five times and being selected as an all-Pro four times. He's one of just six players in NFL history with 25 sacks and 25 interceptions. But cutting him saves the team $6.75 million in cap space, so it was a move they needed to make. On Instagram, Wilson wrote "It's been an honor and a pleasure Cardinals fans. 12 years of heart and dedication and loyalty. 1 day we will celebrate the #24 together. 24". Team President Michael Bidwell also indicated that one day, Wilson will be added to the team's Ring of Honor at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Great player and still something left in the tank if he'll play for vet min. Glad he got to play in a SB.

Bidwill probably doesn't even know what position he plays.
Adrian Wilson has been a tremendous Cardinal and a class act. Definitely should be on the Ring of Honor.
