04:04 PM ET 03.08 | The New York Jets are in a dire salary cap situation, and Santonio Holmes could be the one to suffer. The team wants the veteran wide receiver to take a paycut from his $11 million contract, of which $7.5 million are guaranteed. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, the team has been negotiating with Holmes since last week on chopping some cash out of his deal. They could release Holmes, but if they did, the Jets would still be on the hook for the difference between Holmes' new salary and the $7.5 million he's guaranteed. Holmes, most famous for making a Super Bowl-winning catch with the Pittsburgh Steelers, only played in four games last year with the Jets due to injury while his team's offense sputtered.

Yeah, cause if there is one guy in the league who thinks about the team, the team, nothing but the team, it's Santonio Holmes. Good luck with that, Jets.
