04:00 PM ET 03.08 | The Anaheim Ducks have extended the contract of captain Ryan Getzlaf, according to an announcement by the team on Friday morning. Getzlaf has agreed to an eight-year deal, which will reportedly pay the 27-year-old forward $66 million. If that is the case, the contract has an annual average value of $8.25 million against the salary cap. Getzlaf was playing in the final year of his current deal, which would have allowed him to become an unrestricted-free agent at season???s end. This now adverts attention to teammate Corey Perry who is also eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the year. Many have speculated whether Anaheim will deal the scoring winger so as not to let him walk away for free.
