Longhorns kicking battle heating up

10:03 AM ET 03.09 | One of the more heated battles for playing time appears to be in the kicking game between placekickers Nick Jordan and Nick Rose, with Anthony Fera looming in the background. Jordan won the job in 2012 as a true freshman after Fera, the transfer from Penn State, was hampered by a groin injury before the season. Rose, who has a strong leg but was inconsistent on field goals, handled kickoffs. But Brown said Rose has improved his accuracy, and that he and Jordan are now even in the placekicking race. Fera is handling the punting because Will Russ is out with a back injury, but will begin place-kicking in the summer. "We're not giving up on him," Brown said of Fera. "But we need him well so we can go back and see the guy we saw at Penn State."

Yes I'm riveted to my seat in anticipation of more breaking news. The writer might focus on a more pressing need for the shorthorns like shoring up a defense that allowed an average of
50 points over a 3 game stretch.

Please don't mention "Penn state" and "groin" in the same sentence. Nitters still believe that the only ones "suffering" from the Sandusky scandal are the fans and the team.
