10:08 AM ET 03.09 | If the people behind the Les Miles' Twitter hoax were trying to get a rise out of the LSU coach, they failed. Miles wasn't even aware of the hoax until three days after it got out. And, even then, Miles wasn't impressed. "Yes, I don't pay much attention to those kinds of things," Miles told the AJC. "It's just one of those things, I guess." Last Saturday, Miles was trending on Twitter after Sam McGaw, a Western Kentucky broadcasting student and Bleacher Report contributor, tweeted: "There are rumors that LSU head football coach Les Miles will step down on Monday after allegedly having an affair with a student. Hmm..." McGraw said the rumor started on BamaOnline, the Alabama message board for 247sports.com. McGraw went from 268 Twitter followers to more than 30,000 in a few days, according to a Deadspin.com article.

One might think that Sam McGraw put his future career in sports broadcasting on the line with this report. But in this cyber world of instant communication and innuendo, there's no such thing as vetting and accountability (or libel suits, for that matter). So the LeSmiles rumormongering is accepted practice with no repercussions.

LeSmiles should tweet a response that, Sam McGraw is just seeking out revenge, since LeSmiles turned down his homosexual advances. Seems fair enough!

uhhh... que?

Its a shame this idiot Sam McGaw can do this with no repercussion. He ought to be at least on double secret probation. An apology would be a step in the right direction.

Have you seen Les Miles? Do you really think he could get a student to have an affair? No chance. Not even a male one.

Right, he's no ladykiller like, say, a Bobby Petrino.

I don't think Les has a hog (motorcycle) to ride young ladies around.
