01:13 PM ET 03.09 | The Arizona Cardinals will reportedly release Early Doucet in a move that will save the team $1.7 million, according to AZCentral's Kent Somers. Doucet had a base salary of nearly $2 million, and will likely have to settle for less on the open market. 2012 marked one of the worst seasons of Doucet's career. Appearing in 12 games, he caught just 28 passes for 207 yards, and did not score a touchdown. Doucet's 207 receiving yards are his fewest in a season since his rookie year, when he played in just seven games. With Doucet out of the mix, the Cardinals now have Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts and Michael Floyd as their top receivers. Doucet was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft out of LSU. He was a member of Arizona's only Super Bowl team.
