Tiger Woods gets new putting coach

04:11 PM ET 03.09 | After watching Tiger Woods struggle with his putter at The Honda Classic last week, Steve Stricker offered the world's number two golfer a putting tip earlier in the week that seems to have done the trick. Woods rolled in nine birdies on Thursday at The WGC-Cadillac to shoot a -6 under, 66 which was good for a share of the first round lead. Earlier in the week, Steve Stricker was working with Woods on the shaft angle of Woods' putter to better align it with his ball position at address. It must have helped, because nine birdies is just one shy of his record of 10 birdies, which he made twice, at the 2005 Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines' North Course and at the 2003 Bay Hill Invitational.

CBS showed some crazy stat, outta Tigers last 67 holes played, 42 of them were 1 putts!

He will if he putts like that. If his confidence is good come the Masters he could win a couple this year. However, if he gets in contention at Augusta and falls back, I'm betting on another Major-less year for el gato.

I could careless about tiger woods.When they start talking about tiger I mute or just change the station because I am so sick of hearing about woods.This is way I quite watching golf because the only thing they talk about is tiger woods.

Even the very best putters in the history of the game have not been able to do what Eldrick did last weekend on a regular basis.
As amazing as his putter was working for him, I'm more amazed that he only won by a few strokes.

I have had him ram down my throat for years,just like the dallas cowboys and the yankees.Woods is a great golfer but I am sick of hearing about him.

O.K. I feel your pain. I am a long time Cowboy Hater but I like the Yankees and Tiger. I can understand your comment now. His ex wife is involved with her neighbor now. Very wealthy guy with a yacht in the 140 foot range.
