11:28 PM ET 03.09 | When Tony Parker suffered a grade two ankle sprain against the Sacramento Kings last week, the initial diagnosis was that he would miss a month of basketball. Friday night before the Spurs' blowout loss to the Portland Trailblazers, Gregg Popovich said Parker has begun the next step of the rehab process. "(Head athletic trainer) Will Sevening told me he was going to try to get him to walk on the treadmill today," Popovich said. "Whether that actually happened, I'm not sure." Popovich added that he could see a scenario where the MVP candidate could be back before the four-week timeline the team initially laid out. Parker came back early from a similar injury last season. Cory Joseph has taken Parker's role as the starter and Manu Ginobili has been the team's primary playmaker in the three games Parker has been out.

Spurs are doing well w/o Parker, but it would still be good to have him back. Cory Joseph has been doing great. Great speed and making a lot of good decisions.

Big game on Monday vs. OKC. If Spurs win that game, TP could probably return in the time frame originally set. If not, it will be good if TP gets back earlier.

Popvich is going to sit Parker for the next two years so he is rested.
