11:07 AM ET 03.10 | April 22 is the first day of the Vikings offseason workouts at Winter Park and rest assured Percy Harvin won't be there. There has been a lot of speculation about Harvin's future with the Vikings, and the wide receiver has refused to comment about the different reports. However, the latest word from some good sources around the NFL is that Harvin, who missed the final seven regular-season games as well as the playoff game because of a serious ankle injury, has told the Vikings that he doesn???t want to play for them and wants to be traded. Harvin's relationship with the Vikings has been much-discussed, including rumors that he isn't pleased with the coaches' plans for him on offense and that he does not get along with the medical staff. Quite simply, it seemed as though Harvin wasn't happy here, and that was made obvious when he didn't hang around the team during the late-season push toward the playoffs while he rehabbed his ankle. However, Harvin is signed through this year, and the Vikings currently are $16 million under the NFL salary cap of $123 million. So they have the resources to give him some money if his salary is the problem.

Let me guess... he wants to go to a contender?

If I am the Vikes you have to listen to trade offers, since you made the playoffs last year without him, and he would be a bad apple on your team this year if he stays.

This just in, Minnesota wants out of Percy Harvin. The sad thing is the Vikings with the right free agency moves and draft could actual become a contender pretty quickly. Linebacker, receiver, and defensive tackle are all glaring weaknesses. A game changer at one of those three spots and solid improvement at the other two and maybe guard make the Vikings a very good team. All who watched last year know Ponder is capable of extremely good and extremely horrible pay, a little consistency and he's a solid enough to go far.

Again, the story so nice they ran it twice (on the same day).

Percy Harvin will be traded to some Canadian Team so Percy can enjoy the wider field and the extra padding playing with long johns on. His teeth will be chattering so much you won't undersand any of his ****___.

I've never heard of a player using the teams medical staff as a reason to be traded. Probably more upset with the teams psychologist and his evaluation of Harvin.
It is one thing to trade a player that has lost his job, aka Alex Smith. The only reason why teams would be so eager to trade Harvin, Blount, Revis, Spencer, is because they are malcontents.

Percy Harvin is becoming his own worst enemy. Does he understand just how much his diva behavior is hurting his contract status?
On the plus side he can be an explosive game changer. However his supposed demands for a long term contract along the lines of Calving Johnson are unrealistic considering he is injury prone, small is stature and he has major attitude problems. This scaring general managers including his own. He would be wise to shut his mouth and play out his contract in Minnesota and if he has a great year he will be in line for a big paycheck.

Nobody really wants to be there, it's going to hard finding a DL List that will sign him! He should get paid by the Game!

Since he's a UFA next year, wherever he goes he's gonna need a new contract. Just keep the guaranteed money low, but tack on lots of likely incentives (to keep him motivated) and put the big money in clauses that assume he's healthy and on the field.
Like, if he gets 800 yards in a season, he gets a bonus. If he gets 1000 yards, he gets another, larger bonus. If he gets 6 touchdowns, he gets a bonus. If he gets 12 touchdowns, he gets another, larger bonus. Do the same thing for completions and yards per catch.
But put the real serious money in the unlikely bonuses... if he's on the field for all 16 games, he gets like a million bucks. If the team makes the post-season, he gets an extra $250k a game if he plays. If he's still on the roster 3 years in, he gets a big bonus.
It'd be a nightmare figuring out his cap value, and I'm not sure how happy he'd be with the situation, but it would give the team taking him some protection, and it'd give him a chance to earn as much money as he wants / is able to.

Everybody knows that Spielman's song and dance about being cool with Harvin has to do with maintaining trade value with the allusion that they can still work with him if a trade does not work out. If teams find out that the Vikings HAVE to get rid of him, then his value plummets. The Vikings desperately need a deep threat receiver for Ponder to throw to and Harvin's attitude and skill set seem to remove him as that guy.

if ponder gaines some consistency, and year 3 is a good year for that to happen to qbs, then i agree with others here that they can be a consistent contender. im sure harvin will shine for whomever he ends up playing with but you got to worry about a player with this big of an ego. ive heard no valid reason for him demanding his release.

Remember Viking fans who broke this story. The genius Syd from most likely one of his close, personal friends. Syd should have been put out to pasture 10 years ago.
If anything, the fact the Sir Harman broke this story, give me more confidence that the Vikes and Percy will patch up their differences and he will be All-Pro if not MVP next year.
