Texas A&M jumps Texas for No. 1 2014 recruiting class

11:13 AM ET 03.10 | A month ago, 247Sports.com had the Texas Longhorns as the nation's (early) top recruiting class for 2014, with Texas A&M coming in just one spot behind at No. 2. But now, the former on-field rivals have switched spots. 247's updated rankings have the Aggies coming in at No. 1, thanks largely to three commits in the past week, including Nederland DT DeShawn Washington, North Forney ATH Armani Watts, and four-star West Mesquite S Dylan Sumner-Gardner, who the Longhorns made an offer to on their junior day. Texas, on the other hand, hasn't pulled in a new commit since January, but the Horns are still the country's No. 2 class thanks to pledges from an offense-heavy group that includes four-star prospects Demitrius Knox (OG), Donald Catalon (RB) and Jerrod Heard (QB).

Way too early to get excited about recruiting.
The shorthorns may want to stock up on the defensive side as they got lit up too many times last year.

Must need something to write about as it is way tooooo early to start ranking teams for the 2014 recruiting season. What does the rest of the list look like? Sure there are some SEC teams there and they probably will be at the top when this is all over.
Those kids have a whole season to play football and then make up their mind. Commitments this early don't really mean much as minds can be changed after visits with other schools.
Texas A&M is working toward being a force in the SEC. Betcha UT is glad they don't have to face them.

Yep. But the Dallas Morning News made a commitment to cover Aggie athletics and they're cranking out the stories.

TCU is ranked #9, TTech is #14 and Baylor is #19. All this due to a few early commits. LOL!

Might not be a good thing. Hope it works out better for the agnuts than it did for the rusty cows.

Shorthorns can't fly a plane since their head won't fit in the cockpit....
