Darrelle Revis has no shortage of potential suitors

11:31 AM ET 03.10 | The Darrelle Revis camp is pushing for a resolution ASAP -- i.e. a trade -- because it's concerned about the cornerback market drying up. There are a handful of good free-agent corners out there, namely Sean Smith (Dolphins) and Aqib Talib (Patriots). Dunta Robinson, released by the Falcons, was gobbled up by the Chiefs. Teams such as the Bucs, Cards, Patriots and Broncos are shopping for a cornerback, and it's highly unlikely they'd be interested in dealing for Revis if they spend $8 million-a-year on someone else. This could be part of the Jets' strategy, but it's a double-edged strategy. They could wait out Revis until, say, the summer, figuring the cornerback market will be depressed and they'd be able to re-sign him to a team-friendly deal. Of course, if they wait that long, they risk losing the most aggressive suitors, the teams desperate for help at the position -- if they opt for the trade route.

I don't think its that complicated. The jets are waiting for the first solid offer to come and will take it

I agree. There's no telling how well he'll recover from his knee surgery, and this is the last year of his current deal. If he's close enough to full-strength, he'll likely want more $$$$$ than the J-E-T-S would be willing to pay him. Get what you can, and move on.

but he just is a pain in the rear when it comes to his contract and at this stage, with the qb situation we have- we simply cannot contend- so why 'lock him up' if we could flip him for 2-3 players that could help as we go forwards.

New GM, maybe a new coach and new starting QB next season... time for the J-E-T-S to turn a corner and think about the future.

Hope he lands in SF along with Percy Harvin, it would be best for next season.
Get the deal done! :)

SOUNDS LIKE SOME TALKING HEADS AT ESPN----NEW YORK --- HAVE THE SAME AGENT AS DARRELL REVIS. AND INSTEAD OR REPORTING THEY ARE PROMOTING REVIS.

Revis isn't going anywhere. Why would anyone throw draft picks at the Jets and then pay Revis a starting Top 10 QB's salary on top of that? Let Revis and the NYJ's wallow in their own stupid greed.

My guess is that the Jets will forfeit the 2013 season with the hopes that JOHNNY FOOTBALL will enter the draft. How come ESPN isn't reporting that the jets will tank the season, just like Indianapolis did in 2011 in order to grab Andrew Luck #1 in the 2012 draft. That kind of honest reporting does not make paint a positive picture for the NFL , television ratings, or Las Vegas Odds.

If Tebow starts the season then we'll know for sure they're going for the #1 pick. If Sanchez starts that means Rex is going for an unemployment check.

SF could realistically afford both players and fit them within the cap ... for 2013.
The problem is, the future money both are going to want and will eventually get.

If Sanchez starts Rex is going for an unemployment check and they will still be in the running for the first pick in the draft. How can you win with the guy who invented the 'butt fumble?'

Going to be an interesting Sring for Mr Revis! He will look for a Raise even though he didn't play last year!

March 10, 2013  06:49 PM ET

The Jers should keep him ... and then bench him for the year.
