Bucs looking to trade LeGarrette Blount to the Lions?

11:48 AM ET 03.10 | Blount could fetch a mid-round pick in return -- some have suggested a fifth-round pick -- and with him not being a part of the offense much last year under new coach Greg Schiano, and with rookie runner Doug Martin coming off an exceptional season, it makes sense that Tampa Bay would try to get a pick in return for Blount. Thus a trade would be a win-win, and with Detroit among the teams in need of a back, and Blount younger than most of the options in free agency, general manager Mark Dominik should be able to get something in return for the player. Blount's new deal carries a $1.25 million base, another $500,000 in offseason bonuses and an additional $700,000 if he attains some reachable performance clauses in 2013, with every expectation that will be with a new team. The one-year deal also sets Blount up to be an unrestricted free agent next year.

Yeah, but the Lions just got rid of a guy with a history of punching people, and the team already has two decent running backs. What the Lions need is a burner back that can block in the passing game if needed, and catch passes out of the backfield.
And... that ain't Blount.

Someone will take him. But don't expect much in return. RBs are often interchangeable in today's NFL.

Not gonna happen. The Lions are going for Reggie Bush and probably have a deal in place as we speak. He is a perfect fit on a fast carpet in Detroit.

and, thus, it's an obvious need, for a team that is blind to the role that character plays on winners.

I tend to agree. I don't think Blount is an extremely talented RB and Detroit hasn't had much success lately establishing any kind of running game.
If Blount ends up in Detroit it'll probably be the last we ever hear of him.

As a Bucs fan, I was excited to get Blount, but he has failed to meet expectations:( not a good blocker or pass catcher. Wish Mike Alstott was 25 again:)

If the lions don't trade for him, look for Blount to be cut! Then the can get him without giving up a Player!!

Lot of times NFL teams like to do sign and trades, where they'll resign a player so the team they'd trading with knows for sure that their new investment will be around for a few years.
Speculation is that's what happened here... TB resigned him so they can move him, the theory goes.

doesnt make much sense, with leshour already on the team they need a more speedy 3rd down back not another bruiser. those are relatively easy to find in the draft anyway.
