09:28 PM ET 03.10 | Another big name defensive player is hitting the market as contract talks between the Denver Broncos and Elvis Dumervil have hit an impasse, and the relationship is beginning to sour. Dumervil hasn't publicly stated he wants out of Denver but the Broncos are very vocal that they want Dumervil to take a pay cut before next Saturday. Next Saturday is a big day for the Broncos when it comes to Elvis Dumervil, because if he's still on the roster at that point, his $12 million salary for 2013 becomes fully guaranteed and that's something the Broncos are desperately trying to avoid. The problems between the two sides begin Tuesday though, as if the Broncos are going to cut Dumervil before Saturday's deadline, he'd like to be cut loose in time for free agency as he'd be one of the top targets if he hits the market. The Broncos don't want to pay Dumervil but they also don't want to just cut him and would like some return for him in a trade.

Good player but he's one dimensional and his salary is WAY too high.

I'll bet Denver winds up ultimately cutting him.

They don't want to pay him and they don't want to just cut him without getting some return in a trade. Well boo freakin' hoo!

Gotta wonder who the folks are in management are that give all these players such crazy contracts in the first place, and that result in these situations. Would like to see the names of the GMs in these articles along with the players. This is doubly strange because Dumervill was considered one of the best defensive pass rushers in the league just a year or two ago.

Honor your contract Broncos or let the player go.

You've got to love cap related pay cuts. Basically they're saying "Hey, take less money so we can give someone else more money". That's hard to swallow.

11 sacks and 6 forced fumbles. 17 sacks two seasons ago. and they expect him to take a pay cut? not gonna happen. hes consistent, no character issues, and a pass rusher which means hell easily break the 10 mil mark per season on the market. restructure? probably. pay cut? hell no.

"Elvis has left the Broncos."
