Irish coach: Te'o's lost too much weight

08:02 AM ET 03.11 | Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly was asked recently whether he thought Manti Te'o would run faster than the 4.83 he put up in the 40-yard dash at the combine. Brian Kelly: "Does he need to? If I was to say anything critical, it's that I'd like to see him at 250 pounds. That's what he's going to have to play at. I think he got down to 240. That's his call. That's not my call. He's not playing for me anymore. If he's playing for Brian Kelly at Notre Dame, we'd tell him, 'You need to be at 250.' ... But if you're asking me as an evaluator of potential NFL players, he is who he is. He's going to hit you in the mouth and he has great instincts for the football. He's going to be one of the 11 guys on the field when they open up the first game in the NFL."

The Alabama game pretty much said it all. Average talent, gets lost in a crowd and I don't see him as a project because his size and speed aren't anything special. If I'm a GM I'd pass on this guy.

Mr. Kelly the players are much quicker at the NFL Level, yes he does heck some O-Lineman are that quick,But Te'o is highly over-rated much like the ND team was last year.

Most of you would sooner give the benefit of the doubt to felons from your own programs than to a kid who was the victim of a hoax and made some bad decisions on how to deal with it. I'm sorry to break it to you all but whether this kid makes it in the NFL or not (and admittedly he may not) he is destined for great things in life. At a minimum, someone with serious decision making issues. The fact that he was still slow at 240 and had trouble handling the blockers in the Bama game at (I'm guessing) 250 doesn't make him sound like a player at the pro level.
It really isn't a shame to have your football career end as being a very good college level player.

Understand, what the kid did was silly and stupid, but he is just a kid. What the school administration and athletic staff did was unethical, at best. They knew long before their season was over it was a hoax, but they let the lie continue, not because it was in the student/athletes best interest, but because it served them. That is the part Domer apologists refuse to accept, and never will.
