History beckons for the Heat

08:12 AM ET 03.11 | By way of a 105-91 win, the Heat put to rest the notion that Indiana presents matchup problems. So on to the more pressing concern: Should the Heat make a run at the longest win streak in NBA history? Sunday was their 18th straight win, meaning they passed the '72 Dolphins for the longest streak in South Florida history (someone alert Mercury Morris). They also tied Michael Jordan's Bulls, Willis Reeds's Knicks and Larry Bird's Celtics at 18 straight wins. That's historic company and the fourth-longest streak in NBA history. The longest streak, of course, is the 33-game streak of Pat Riley's Lakers. ... "I'm not disrespecting it, but no, it's not something in our radar," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Although it may be nice to break records, this is a fan stat. The team wouldn't care if they lost every game from here on out if they still came home with another title.

33 games does sound untouchable though...

The Pacers don't have a chance against the Heat with everyone healthy.

Last nights win and the current streak has proven that NO ONE has a chance vs the Heat if they are playing well...

If Miami makes it through the Toronto game next week, the next "test" will be a rested Celtics team at home playing the Heat on a back to back.

If the Heat tie or beat the Lakers win-streak record, I'll change my avatar to a Heat related one for the rest of the season.

I'm not worried. The Heat suck ;)

Yes the Pacers have defeated the Heat twice this season No those previous two losses mean absolutely nothing after Sunday night at AmericanAirlines Arena

March 11, 2013  05:25 PM ET

How about Los Lakers 8-2 in ten games.....!!!!!

March 11, 2013  05:46 PM ET

The heat is the best team in the East right now and it will be a Heat and Pacers Eastern Conference Finals unless Rose return will changed that The Pacers got beat because they were believing the hype that they can beat the heat in a 7 game series No team can be the heat in the East in a seven game series We all have to face the facts and truth THe heat and their team will be the Eastern Conference Champions again The Heat have all the weapons to get back to the Finals! On the West its Thunder and Spurs Western Conference Finals That s the Truth

Lebron only scored 13 pts and the heat are able to defeat the pacers. Easy victory for miami

It???s good to see that the Heat can be a little tougher around the basket. Hibbert and West got too many easy ones, but George and Stephenson had to earn it at the line and got rejected a few times. Glad to see that Stephenson is ok, his fall seemed very hard after that battier foul

If the HGH rumor/story had any legs to it, ESPN,SI, Fox Sports, Yahoo, The National Enquirer, or someone else would be running hard with it.

In the words of LeBron James, "Cut it out".
