Dodgers have arms to deal ... or do they?

08:16 AM ET 03.11 | Theoretically, the clock is ticking. At some point before turning in their season-opening roster March 31, the Dodgers will have to shoe-horn their eight starting pitchers into a five-man rotation through roster creativity (with moves to the bullpen or DL), attrition (if one or more is injured) or trade. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly seemed to offer the pragmatic answer when he acknowledged that being able to hold on to six of the eight starters when the season starts -- five in the rotation and one in the bullpen -- would "be the best-case scenario for us." ... Dodgers GM Ned Colletti doesn't necessarily agree that one or two of his veteran starters will inevitably have to be traded before rosters are finalized for opening day.

If you read the whole larticle the Doggers mgr and gm both acknowlege the old axiom: Ya can never have too much pitching.
Colletti does say with an attiude of strength that he will answer any calls and lsite nt oany pitches, (pun intended), however. But the bottom line is he will want a kings ransom, so to speak, in return for any of his arms. And rigthfully so, for he has the surplus and whomever is coming to him is in the beggars seat.

well... then that is just another reason why you need as many arms as possible just in case Beckett sucks.

Indeed. It's rare that a team doesn't lose a starting pitcher to an injury somewhere along the way.

This team really needs a second baseman, and perhaps a third baseman, and has pitching to deal.
Mark Ellis? 2B and leadoff? And you expect to contend?
Trade a pitcher or two for at least one player, guys. Sign someone such as Ryan Theriot, who is probably better than Ellis, and give your team a chance.
