Mets' Wheeler demoted, but not for long

08:18 AM ET 03.11 | Pitching BP in the minors isn't exactly what the Mets' Zack Wheeler saw for himself on Sunday, but it's not likely his long-term future, either. While Wheeler anticipated the move, he was still disappointed. "I'm not happy," Wheeler said after receiving the news from Terry Collins, pitching coach Dan Warthen and general manager Sandy Alderson. ... Now that Wheeler is on the minor league side, where there are more games, that will change soon enough. Alderson said Wheeler's arrival in New York might not be far away. "He's competitive," Alderson said. "He was probably a little bit disappointed, but in the long run this is in his best interests. He's obviously somebody who???s close and someone we think very highly of."

Don't blame the kid for being unhappy....he didn't even get a chance....is he really not ready (not from what some veterans were saying about the kid)....or is this the penny pinching Mets pushing his free agent eligibility back another year....amazing they are already worrying about what they may have to pay this kid in the future......

wiseup: like the Mets are loaded with great pitching? If Wheeler isn't going to start and would be long reliever at best for the Mets Then going to Triple A where he would get steady inings pitched, will help him in the long run. by pitching every 4th day will help him work on his command of his pitches. There will be an opportunity sooner or later.

Wheeler would have to learn on how to be patient and just wait for the right time and the right moment!!!

He's a stud...he already has 2 1/2 years of the minor league's under his belt...he has steadly climbed fro A-AAA. ...he's ready....the Mets are jerking this kid around ...and its all about delaying his free agency down the road....

Translatio: this is what is best for the mets. Keep him under their control longer.
