Philadelphia a possibility for Perry

08:26 AM ET 03.11 | While Jarome Iginla's name is no stranger to the West's likely-to-move lists, more eyes this season may be on Anaheim's Corey Perry. If they can't sign [Perry] in three weeks (maybe he wants $9 million a year), they'll do one of two things: deal him for three live bodies and a first-round draft pick (see [ Marian Hossa, Ilya Kovalchuk]), or work out a sign-and-trade deal with a team the way the NBA does. The team that wants Perry will sign him to an exorbitant rate, but give up way more because he's not a rental then. The Philadelphia Flyers could do it as long as they were giving up Brayden Schenn or Sean Couturier in the deal, and I'd hold out for Wayne Simmonds to offset Perry's snarliness.

Yes, this will definitely in no way make Philadelphia more of a one-dimensional, talent-diluted team than it already is.

Also, who wouldn't wanna trade in SoCal for..ehm..SE Pennsylvania...

I for one would not be very happy if they traded out Simmonds and Schenn for Perry

Philly sure seems to be the popular destination (of speculation) these days

Well when you are playing as incompletely as they have the past 4 games (at least) there will be speculations a plenty

Especially when Perry can be had for no roster players come July.

As I've said before, the right thing to do is nothing. Perry can do nothing to help this year. The long term fix is the lottery, UFA and buyouts

Exactly. Perry is a distinct possibility for all 30 NHL teams. It's basically up to him where he wants to go.

I agree. Why would you give up Simmonds and Schenn when you don't have to? Stupid would be a good word for that deal.

I'm assuming it's bad writing more than something management is actually considering.

To Boston: Perry

To Anaheim: Horton + #1 draft pick

Is the EJ of the same journalistic quality as the NYPOST and ESPN then?

I didn't know Lord Irk (or garth Snow, or Sather) was in Boston these days...

Holmgren has some catching up to do to reach that special level of ineptitude though;

And I forgot milbury.....

Right. One expiring contract and a late draft pick for a guy who two years ago won the Hart.

Hell, maybe the Ducks will throw in Teemu.

From this post, i'd say that's a safe assumption.

Fine Boston will also throw in Ference plus Caron.
