08:27 AM ET 03.11 | As of yet, the NHL hasn't publicly stated an appetite for expanding to 32 teams, but many believe that's just where the league is headed. Sidney Crosby -- who's really into this topic, by the way -- has no problem with expansion. "It's only two more teams. I don't see it as that big an issue," the captain said. "The league's found a way to stay competitive with 30. It can do 32." Ray Shero couldn't be described as wild about it. No GM could. "I was talking with Lou Lamoriello the other night just about top-six forwards and how hard they've become to find. And that's now," Shero said, referring to his counterpart with the Devils. "But it could be done, adding a couple teams. Sure." Good enough for me.

If there's one league that needs to expand less than the NBA, it's the NHL. NHL could stand to gut a few teams, not add them.

Why Crosby endorses NHL expansion?
No great mystery here. Expansion means lighter competition. It will dilute the product on the ice even more, making it easier for him to do his thing and score goals.

Come on guys, give the Kid a break. He is a member of a union. You think any player in any pro league is going to talk about contraction?? More teams , more revenue, more jobs. Even if he knows the product is watered down, he isn't going to say anything but what is the company line.
