02:17 PM ET 03.11 | The Washington Redskins released veteran cornerback DeAngelo Hall Monday, part of an effort by the team to free up a good bit of salary cap space. The 'Skins entered the 2013 offseason $3 million over the cap, thanks to $36 million in penalties levied against the team for contracts it issued during in 2010. Hall was set to cost Washington roughly $8 million next season, and the Redskins simply couldn't afford him. He played in all 16 games in 2012, compiling 95 tackles, 14 passes defended and four interceptions.

Could be. Too many assume that when a player is released that got big bucks that it is detrimental to a team. Sometimes yes, but usually not. Real keepers you keep and work around their contract.
